Power Reading

I’m in a book list committee within my school district. We choose 20 books (geared to grades 3-5) each year and send the list to the elementary schools. From there, most librarians encourage their kids to read these books. It’s like the Bluebonnet list or any other book suggestion list, but at a smaller scale.

With that being said, our date to vote on books is quickly approaching and I am (secretly) the book bottleneck. Whoops!

I mean, like, I have 8 books sitting on my table- staring at me…judging me… mocking me. (Actually these books are rather polite, so they abstain from the mocking) So I’ve been PLOWING through these books, so I can send them on to other committee members.

So this weekend, I plan to read the 9 books that I need to and send them on to everyone else. Thankfully, as a parent, I feel a lot better about reading a book in front of the boys rather than a variety of other past times.

Prior to becoming a librarian, I didn’t realize that some of my professional stress would be based on my TBR list.

But there we are. It is what it is.
